Back up n8n workflows locally. Manage accounts, compare backups, schedule exports, and restore inactive copies. Keep your n8n workflow backups organized on your own device. n8n Backup connects directly to the n8n instances you choose and saves workflow archives in your browser. Manage multiple accounts, create full backups, and keep earlier versions until you delete them. FULL BACKUPS FIRST Create backup includes every workflow visible to the selected account's API key. Save a ZIP in your local library and download an independent copy whenever you need it. Optional credential metadata provides a checklist of credentials to recreate. A LOCAL BACKUP WORKSPACE • Save multiple n8n instances and accounts. • Recognize an open n8n editor tab and prefill its instance URL. • Keep a persistent library with dates, counts, sizes, and account filters. • Optionally select workflows using search, activity, and tag filters. • Compare saved backups to see added, changed, removed, and unchanged workflows. RECOVERY WITH A PREVIEW Choose a backup and destination, preview the result, then confirm creating inactive workflow copies. Existing workflows are never overwritten. Skip duplicate names or create renamed copies, and reconnect credentials after restoring. OPTIONAL VAULT AND SCHEDULES Protect stored API keys and archive contents with a password-encrypted local vault. Schedule full backups every 6 hours, daily, or weekly. Chrome must be running and the vault must be unlocked. Delayed, missed, and failed runs are visible in Settings. PORTABLE LIBRARIES Export your backup library as a ZIP or choose a password-protected export. Import it into another installation without overwriting existing backups. Identical files are skipped. PRIVACY No developer-operated backend, analytics, advertising, cloud sync, or third-party uploads. API requests go directly to the n8n server you select. Account names, URLs, backup metadata, and restore history remain readable locally when vault encryption is enabled. BEFORE YOU START You need an n8n instance with API access and your own API key. Read access is needed for backups; workflow create access is also needed for restore. API availability depends on your n8n plan and server configuration. Site access is requested for each origin you add. BACKUP LIMITS Backups include API-visible workflow definitions and available credential metadata, not credential secrets, execution history, users, or the full server database. Workflow parameters and pinned data may contain sensitive information. Download ZIP creates an unencrypted file; use a password-protected library export for encrypted transfers. Vault passwords cannot be recovered. Restored copies have new IDs and stay inactive. Review credentials, subworkflow links, webhook paths, and installed nodes before activating. Backups remain local until deleted, but uninstalling the extension or removing the browser profile removes its local data. Independent extension by Steward the Teacher from SteProTECH.
