Helps users focus on educational content by filtering distractions on YouTube. YouTube Study Mode lets you allowlist channels and, when Study Mode is on, hide related videos and Shorts and block watch pages that are not on your list. The list and the on/off toggle stay in chrome.storage.local on your computer. There is no account and no developer server. What it does • You add channels from a YouTube watch or channel page (“Add to Study Mode”), or import a JSON list. • Turn Study Mode on in the popup. • On an allowlisted watch page, the related column is hidden. Shorts are hidden. • On a watch page that is not on your list, playback is paused, the player is blurred, and an overlay tells you the channel is not in your study list. What it does not do • It does not block ads. • It does not blank Home or Search. Those pages stay normal YouTube. • It does not run on YouTube Music. How to use 1. Pin the extension and open the popup. 2. Add educational channels you actually want to watch. 3. Enable Study Mode. 4. Export the list if you want a backup. Import opens a local page that merges a JSON file into your list. Permissions (as declared) • storage — save the channel list and the Study Mode toggle locally. • tabs — open a channel or the import page, and tell the active YouTube tab that the toggle changed.
