Highlight web text, add annotations, and save to Google Docs, Markdown, plain text, or a local inbox. Keep the parts worth remembering. AnyAnnotate lets you select text on a web page, add your own annotation, and choose where to save it: Google Docs, Markdown, plain text, or a local inbox. It works on ordinary websites, including articles, documentation, blogs, and ChatGPT conversations. It never sends a message to the chat. HOW IT WORKS 1. Select the text you want to keep. 2. Click Annotate and add an optional note. 3. Choose a destination and click Save. Your last saved choice is remembered. YOUR NOTES, YOUR DESTINATION - Markdown (.md) and plain text (.txt): choose a filename and location, or connect a reusable file to keep appending notes. Each format has its own default file. - Google Docs: optionally connect Google, choose an existing document or create one, and append individual notes or export the collected inbox. - Local inbox: collect excerpts from multiple pages and export them when you finish reading. CLEAN, READABLE NOTES Exports focus on the quote, your annotation, and a short source title. Markdown and Google Docs include supported source links. Optional categories, tags, timestamps, and complete source URLs remain in the local inbox instead of cluttering the exported document. LOCAL FIRST Local saving needs no account or server. Every saved annotation is kept in the local inbox before a file or Google Docs write is attempted. Failed saves keep the local copy and show an error. There is no analytics, advertising, or AI processing. Google Docs is optional and sends your selected quote, annotation, and source details directly to Google only when you choose a Google save or export. PAGE SUPPORT Supports standard text selections on top-level HTTP and HTTPS pages. Local HTML files require Chrome's Allow access to file URLs setting. Input fields, password fields, and editable areas are ignored. Chrome settings, the Chrome Web Store, built-in PDF viewers, embedded frames, and canvas-rendered text are not supported. This is a desktop Chrome extension. PDF export and mobile Chrome are not supported. Previously called Answer Clipper. Existing screenshots and the Google consent screen may still show the previous name. Google OAuth verification is pending; local saving does not require Google.
