Gist is bring-your-own-key: it uses your own OpenAI API key, so you pay OpenAI directly for exactly what you use — no subscription, no markup, no middleman. Your key is stored on your device and is sent only to OpenAI. Add your OpenAI API key in Settings (one time). 2. Open any YouTube video or web page and click the Gist icon. 3. Hit Summarize and read the gist — click any timestamp to jump in. You'll need a free OpenAI account and an API key from platform.openai.com/api-keys. Typical summaries cost a fraction of a cent with GPT-4o mini.
