FileLean converts PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations into clean, lightweight text before you paste them into Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI chat. Raw files waste tokens. A PDF or spreadsheet uploaded directly to an AI chat carries a lot of invisible formatting overhead, including layout instructions, styling, and structure that the AI has to process but that adds no real value to your question. FileLean strips that overhead out first, so you're sending the AI clean, dense text instead. In real testing, this reduced token usage by 67.5 percent on a technical PDF, measured directly against Claude's own API, not estimated. How it works. Choose a file, or let FileLean detect PDFs and documents linked on the page you're viewing. FileLean converts it to clean Markdown text. Copy the result and paste it into your AI chat of choice. Supported formats: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX. Privacy: Your files are processed transiently and never stored. Nothing is logged, tracked, or shared with third parties. Known limitations: Images, charts, and colors embedded in documents are not preserved in the text conversion, since this is a property of the Markdown format itself, not a bug. Scanned or image-only PDFs without a real text layer are not currently supported.
