Dual-language Chinese subtitles on YouTube, Netflix & iQiyi — selective pinyin by HSK level, click any word for definitions. HanziLens turns the videos you already watch into Chinese reading practice. It replaces the native subtitles on YouTube, Netflix, and iQiyi (iq.com) with an interactive overlay built for learners. WHAT IT DOES • Pinyin, only where you need it — show pinyin above words by HSK level (e.g. hide it for HSK 1–3 words you already know, keep it for harder ones). Mark individual words as "known" and their pinyin disappears everywhere. • Click any word for an instant definition — tap a word in the subtitle to see its meaning and pinyin in a popup, without leaving the video. Save words to review later. • Dual subtitles — show a second language under the Chinese line, when the video provides that subtitle track. Currently supported secondary languages: English, Japanese, and Thai. • Full transcript panel — scroll the whole subtitle track alongside the video and jump to any line. • Fits your setup — adjustable font size, line sizes, and vertical position; works in fullscreen; simplified and traditional Chinese supported. HOW IT WORKS HanziLens reads the subtitle tracks the video site already provides and renders them in its own overlay. Everything runs locally in your browser: the dictionary, word segmentation, and pinyin data ship with the extension. No account, no server, no data collection — your settings and saved words stay on your device. Works on youtube.com, netflix.com, and iq.com with Chinese subtitles available. HanziLens is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube, Netflix, or iQiyi.
