Toggle a clean dark mode on any website, per-site, with one click. Nightfall gives every website a dark mode, even ones that never built one. Click the toolbar icon and flip the switch — the current tab inverts to a clean dark palette. Photos, videos, and icons are automatically corrected so they don't turn into photo negatives. WHY NIGHTFALL - Per-site, not global — turn it on for the sites you read at night, leave the rest untouched. Nightfall remembers your choice per website. - Zero setup — no accounts, no options page, no configuration. Install, click, done. - Zero data collection — Nightfall doesn't send anything anywhere. Your per-site preferences are stored locally (and synced through your own signed-in Chrome, via Chrome's built-in storage) and never leave your browser. - Lightweight — a single small content script, no background process running all the time, no impact on page load speed. HOW IT WORKS Nightfall applies a CSS color-inversion filter to the page and then re-inverts images, video, and icons so they render normally. This means it works instantly on any site, with no per-site custom styling needed. WHO IT'S FOR Anyone who reads, browses, or works at night and wants relief from bright white pages — writers, researchers, students, or anyone who just prefers a dark screen after sunset. PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE Nightfall asks for access to all websites because a dark-mode toggle needs to work on whichever site you're currently viewing — the extension doesn't know in advance which pages you'll want to darken. It only reads the hostname of the active tab to save your on/off choice for that site; it does not read page content, track browsing history, or communicate with any server.
