GPTChatDownloader lets you copy export your ChatGPT conversations quickly and reliably — as Markdown or plain text, copied to your clipboard, or saved directly to a GitHub repository. GPTChatDownloader solves this by reconstructing the actual conversation thread — correctly handling edited messages and branching — and exporting it in a format you can actually use: for notes, documentation, sharing, or version-controlled backups on GitHub. PRIVACY GPTChatDownloader only accesses the conversation open in your current ChatGPT tab, and only when you choose to export or copy it. No conversation data is sent to any server operated by the developer. GitHub integration is fully optional and uses GitHub's own secure authorization flow — your GitHub password is never seen or stored by the extension. GPTChatDownloader is open source.
