Free chord finder for YouTube. Get the chords, key and tempo of any video, unlimited, with no account. Press one button under any YouTube video and the chords appear as it plays, with the key and the tempo. Free, unlimited, and there is no account to make. EarChord reads the audio the YouTube player is already producing, using the browser's own Web Audio API. Nothing is downloaded and nothing is uploaded. The analysis runs in your tab, on your machine, which is why it can stay free with no daily limit. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a YouTube video. 2. Press "Get chords" under the player. 3. The chord names scroll past as the video plays, with the key and tempo. 4. Press "Full result" to open the same track on earchord.com for the whole timeline, clickable playback and a fingering for every chord. WHAT YOU GET - Chord names following the video in real time - The key of the track - The tempo in BPM, or "unclear" when the track has no steady pulse - it will not invent a number - A link through to the full timeline on earchord.com PRIVACY The extension runs on youtube.com and nowhere else. It cannot see any other site you have open, because it was never granted access to one. It sends no audio, and no analysis, to any server. The permissions it asks for: - youtube.com access: to show the chord ribbon on the page you are watching - activeTab: so nothing runs until you press the button - storage: to remember your preferences LIMITS, HONESTLY The chord vocabulary is 24 major and minor triads. Seventh chords, suspensions and inversions are reported as the nearest triad. Widening that vocabulary measurably makes ordinary pop and rock worse, so it is left alone. Distorted guitars and dense, loud mixes are harder to read than clean recordings, and power chords contain no third at all, so major or minor is a judgement call the analysis has to make.
