Search a video's comments without an API key. Matches stay in YouTube's own comment boxes and are highlighted. YouTube has no way to search the comments on a video. This adds one. Type a word in the box above the comments. Everything that does not match is hidden, and your word is highlighted in yellow in everything that stays. It keeps YouTube's own comment boxes, so Like, Reply, hearts, "show replies" and YouTube's own "Sort by" all keep working exactly as before. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • No API key and no account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to paste in. • No permissions at all. Look at the install prompt: it asks for nothing. • Nothing is collected and nothing is sent anywhere. There is no server. • Your page never scrolls or jumps while it searches. HOW IT WORKS YouTube only holds a few comments in the page at a time and fetches more as you scroll. This asks YouTube for the rest in the background, so a search covers far more than what is on screen. A busy video will load a couple of thousand comments in about a minute, and the count in the bar tells you how far it has got. You can press Stop at any time. ABOUT THE COUNT YouTube's own "1,234 comments" headline counts replies as well as top-level comments, so it is normally bigger than the number searched. The bar says so plainly, for example: "5 of 55 comments · YouTube lists 90, which counts replies". On a very busy video YouTube stops sending after roughly one to three thousand comments, whatever anyone does; the bar says that too, instead of pretending it found everything. REQUIREMENTS Chrome 111 or newer, or another browser built on Chromium: Edge, Brave, Opera or Vivaldi. Works on the desktop site and the phone site (m.youtube.com) on mobile browsers with extension support.
