Connect ChatGPT or Claude Code to understand pages, draft replies, fill forms, and review safe actions. Local AI is optional. ▶ USE THE AI PLAN YOU ALREADY HAVE Already use ChatGPT with Codex or Claude Code? Connect your eligible account once and call your preferred AI directly from the WebMate side panel while browsing. There is no separate developer API key to purchase for this connection, and WebMate does not add a per-request usage fee. Your provider plan, account eligibility, included usage limits, and any optional provider credits still apply. ▶ NO CODEX OR CLAUDE CODE? RUN AI LOCALLY Choose Local AI to download and run a supported model on a compatible WebGPU computer. No ChatGPT or Claude account is required, and there are no per-request AI API fees. WebMate does not charge for using its included local-model option. Local models require a compatible device, sufficient memory and storage, and an internet connection for the initial model download. ▶ WEBMATE AI FOR INDIVIDUALS AND TEAMS WebMate AI brings ChatGPT through Codex, Claude Code, local AI, and supported AI APIs into a practical Chrome side panel. Ask questions about any page, explain selected text, summarize content, draft Gmail replies, prepare form entries, and review browser actions without repeatedly copying information between tabs. ▶ CONNECT THE AI YOU ALREADY USE WebMate AI supports: - ChatGPT through Codex - Claude Code - Local on-device AI through WebLLM - OpenAI API - Gemini API - Anthropic Claude API - OpenAI-compatible endpoints ChatGPT through Codex and Claude Code use a restricted Native Messaging helper installed by the user. After the one-time setup, WebMate AI starts the required background process automatically. You do not need to keep Terminal open or manually run a WebSocket server. ▶ UNDERSTAND PAGES AND SELECTED TEXT - Ask a general question without sharing the current page - Include the current page only when it is relevant - Explain, summarize, translate, or ask about selected text - Render answers with readable Markdown, lists, tables, links, and code blocks - Use English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, or Japanese ▶ WRITING AND DATA ENTRY - Draft replies from the currently displayed Gmail conversation - Insert a reviewed draft without automatically sending it - Prepare values for forms, contenteditable areas, and rich-text fields - Review proposed values, reasons, and confidence before applying them ▶ REVIEWED BROWSER ACTIONS WebMate AI can prepare limited page actions such as clicking, typing, selecting, checking, focusing, and scrolling. Actions are validated against elements already detected on the page. Sending, saving, publishing, or confirming a reservation requires an additional confirmation. Passwords, payment details, verification codes, authentication flows, API keys, and CAPTCHA actions are not automated. ▶ PRIVACY CHOICES Page context is extracted when you make a WebMate request. General questions can be sent without including the page. When Local AI is selected, page and conversation content is processed on the device. When ChatGPT, Claude Code, or an API provider is selected, the context required for the request is sent to that selected provider under its applicable terms and privacy practices.
